JIM KLEIN
BIOGRAPHY
Jim Klein (born July 18, 1960) is an American painter and sculptor and an early contributor to the Amnesis art movement which was inspired by prominent Bolivian literary figure Nicomedes Suárez-Araúz. Klein is known for meditative and psychologically layered work that can be characterized by contemplative, inward sensibility and use of restraint.
Klein gained early recognition in Los Angeles and New York through exclusive gallery exhibitions and private sales to collectors, including notable figures in the entertainment industry. During a prolonged period on absence, his practice evolved privately, unconstrained by institutional or commercial pressures, allowing the work to be internally driven rather than market-facing. His current body of work reflects that period - disciplined, intuitive, spiritual, and shaped by sustained solitude. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
